I am considering purchasing and would love to hear your feedback. We have a well, with what sounds like the same water conditions as you. We already have the same pentair filter, but need something to reduce scale in toilets, on faucets, etc. Is it working? How effective? Thanks for any insight!

Re: Alkaline Batteries – Just Throw them in the Garbage!

It's not that American citizens don't care as a whole, because many of us do, it's that we lack the infrastructure and knowledge in less densely populated areas. For example, there are only a few limited programs in place for recycling in my area (none for batteries in particular). Part of this is, of course, because corporations and our governing bodies care more about profit than ethics. The closest eco-conscious grocery store from me is ~50 minutes, but I make due with reusable bags and avoiding plastic, etc. I care a lot, but I am often discouraged at the carelessness of my peers (especially after moving from a city that was very progressive when it came to green living compared to the rest of my state), but looking down on others does not encourage them to change their behaviors, nor does it encourage them to learn the importance being environmentally conscious. We have to instill this in each other, not "be disgusted" with one another.

Re: Alkaline Batteries – Just Throw them in the Garbage!

All of this mush about recycling make me sick. American don't recycle so don't talk like you really care. If you don't recycle the basic paper, plastic, glass, or aluminum, then don't talk about landfill toxic. I know ALL of you who posted comments had thrown a few things that I just mentioned into the trash. And all of you, the pretender, think green house effect destroying the ozone, couldn't careless about recycling. So please stop pretending that you care.

Re: Alkaline Batteries – Just Throw them in the Garbage!

ROFL!

Re: Alkaline Batteries – Just Throw them in the Garbage!

Shouldn't everyone be a treehugger? I mean, trees do keep us alive. I guess I'm a treehugger. Healthy forests and creeks are awesome! I think the vast majority of people throw their batteries in the trash because there is no good program, requirement or TRANSPARENCY in the US. I'm also a capitalist, but greed can't be allowed to win over common sense. We need some sort of transparency to force competition to make companies CHAMPION the right, healthy, life-supporting, environmentally sustainable (look it up) things!

Re: Alkaline Batteries – Just Throw them in the Garbage!

The waste of zinc and manganese is sad. Those metals are expensive to extract through mining of rock. They should be recycled, even if it's expensive.

Re: Cash for Cans, A Chicago Perspective

You are right: it typically does pay off to recycle! With that being said, I was unaware that there are different places that will pay you more depending on whether you bring in a larger amount or not. If we can't get rid of it, then styrofoam should not be made or produced. It is not condusive to having a cleaner environment. It's a pollutant for our planet. Companies should stop making it and do the biodegradable only.

Re: Yes! I know because I clicked on the Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers link and did a search and it showed that they have no recycling places in this area. Wish there was something here because I hate having to throw away all of my styrofoam. I mean, it's not much but still.

Re: Yes! "Oh, these batteries are safe in household waste!". So freaking what? You can still recycle them so they can be broken down and used to make something new. That's ten times better than sending them to landfill.

I find it bizarre a site called ecycler is actively discouraging people from recycling "just because they don't need to".

Re: Yes! We have been on Facebook and Twitter for years, but we don't have very many followers. I think it would be really good to get us some of these decals, because then our customers could be aware that we are online, and then could follow us. That way, we would probably have a much better response when we post deals or coupons online. Do you know if we could get an Instagram decal as well?

Re: Alkaline Batteries – Just Throw them in the Garbage!

Good one!
